Mani Vaghedi
President and CEO
After ten years advising Fortune 500 companies at Intel, Mani set out to address a critical gap in the eyecare industry: practitioners lacked purpose-built display systems, strategic practice design, and the retail know-how to drive revenue. Drawing on his earlier experience helping over 50 optometrists launch their practices during his college years, he founded CNS in 2003 to bring enterprise-grade engineering to optical retail environments.
The company’s rapid growth attracted global attention, leading to Essilor acquiring a majority stake in CNS in 2013. Mani joined Essilor to lead its Retail Infrastructure and Design Initiatives. However, following the 2018 merger between Essilor and Luxottica, corporate priorities shifted. Believing independent eyecare professionals deserved a dedicated, uncompromised ally, Mani bought back his shares to make CNS fully independent once again.
Operating from Sterling, Virginia, CNS has grown into the largest provider of eyecare space furniture and display systems in North America, transforming more than 40,000 practices worldwide. To further support practitioners in today’s highly competitive landscape, Mani recently expanded his services to include optical retail consulting, giving ECPs the strategic guidance needed to maximize their business potential.
Driven by continuous innovation, Mani holds degrees in Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Infomation Systems Management. He holds multiple pending patents in interactive sales technology and speaks English, Persian, and German fluently.
